Welcome to the forum! Take a good look around this site. I too was a correctional officer for a max women's prison almost ten years. It closed I would of had to work at a men's prison or commute almost two hours to the next closest female inst. No way I was working at a men's!! Kudos to you for that!! Anyhoo you should do whatever the heck you want! And your loved ones had better support you! Because that is what they are supposed to do! Not to mention your live in could be an enormous help right? Best of luck whatever you decide. Spend lots of time here all your question will be answered!
Thanks, my kids support me but the significant other doesn't. Before I moved to Missouri 2 years ago, I lived in Illinois my whole life. I was at that job since I was 21. I always wanted to try trucking after the kids were raised. I'm not scared of not making much for awhile...like any job, you have to start at the bottom. I want to travel and eventually move south out of this area. Truck driving, I know, is the only way I'm gonna get there. Thanks for the encouragement!!! I know that's what I want to do. If I can make it working in a prison for 20 years, I know I can do this!
