Is it a truck driver's responsibility to handle any repairs while on the road? (Ex. an overheated engine, brakes, etc.)

Most companies have a "Road Breakdown" service. As a company driver when I had any mechanical issues I would call the number provided to me by the company and they would set up the repair at a service outlet, generally the closest repair shop to my location, and the company would provide a Purchase Order number (PO) to the repair shop for payment. Most large companies have service accounts with repair shops (TA, Wingfoot, Love's, etc) also. Owner Operators (drivers that own their truck) would be responsible for paying for any repairs to the truck and I believe that some Lease Operators are as well.

Owner Operator:

An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.

Weatherman pretty much nailed it.

most company drivers dont have to worry about repair bills. You may be required to write a comcheck but it would be the company paying, not you.

I agree!

I do wonder, what do people think about having national standards? About all states having the same laws? Good? Bad? Better? Worse?
