Tater
Tater, I started the whole shebang on December 16. Now, roughly 2 months later, I'm set to hit the road. You'll get there. Stick with TT for a place to hang out - tons of experienced drivers & struggling students to keep you entertained.
Congrats on passing
Last week I finished the Swift Academy & received my Mississippi CDL-A. Tomorrow (Tuesday January 13) I go to the Swift Terminal in Memphis for orientation. I'll try to keep you updated to what goes on in Swift's Orientation program. I live locally so I won't be in the hotel, but It's a better brand name than the one near the Academy!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Hey I'm 20 years old and dedicated to becoming a truck driver next year. It's something I have always wanted to do since I was younger. I have been around 18 wheelers all my life. I'm really considering Swift driving academy for the schooling and experience. I have had bad luck with jobs the past couple years dealing with temp. Services etc. and I was wondering if not having a steady job history for the past three years would be a big deal? I have had a few jobs and paid in taxes have pay stubs etc. would that be good enough job verification?

Errol, are you secretly an author of suspense, adventure, or other genres of literature? Reading this blog was amazing. It was full of surprise and adventure, and you made the story really jump out at the reader.
My mentor phase should begin next week, as I will begin orientation next Tuesday. Stay safe.
Hi Errol, Do you pay for the hotel?
Hi Errol, Do you pay for the hotel?
No. School covers the hotel while in school, and Swift covers the hotel while you're in training and your mentor does home time.
