The minimum age to cross state lines in a commercial vehicle is 21. So even though you can technically get your CDL , no one will touch you until you're 21.
So your only option is to wait it out. Until then keep reading on TT. By the time you get to school you should memorize our High Road Training ProgramAnd in all seriousness, enjoy your life right now before trucking. Once you get into this you'll lose your entire social life so enjoy your young years while they're here.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Unfortunately Daniel is right. All you can do right now is learn about the industry and get started on learning the CDL manual. Go through our Truck Driver's Career Guide from beginning to end and follow all the links you come across if you haven't already. And start playing around with our High Road Training Program which is a free online course that teaches the CDL manual and more.

So I am 20 years old and I'm turning 21 years old in a 9 months and I'm really wanting to join a company sponsored program and I need some recommendations on some. Can anyone help?
