The reality....luck is a big part of safety out there. We'd all love to think we're 100% in control of things but we're not. And we're all fatally flawed human beings so we all make mistakes. Some of us get luckier than others at times.
I've watched a little bit of Ice Road Truckers but it's super boring. That's the only trucking show I think I've ever watched.
The weather channel has a pretty good one about heavy wreckers.
I have watched IRT a few times, but, like Brett said...Boring. Except for Lisa, I like Lisa...Anyway.
There are a couple times where if I was 100 yards further up, or one lane over I would have been in wrecks. It is luck and situational awareness adds some good to it.
I don`t wait for a response when sliding in front of another big truck. Sometimes you just will not get one. Like you said, get way ahead then ease on over.

I like her too. I'd like to keep her bunk warm for er too AAHAHAHA

Do you ever watch those trucking shows on TV and ever wonder if you make the same mistakes as other truckers and just got lucky?
I always try and get in the habit and of whenever I pass a truck, I signal to get back in, and wait to get a response from the truck behind me before going back in, or try and judge based on distance in my side mirror that the truck is WAY behind me.
