Last night I experinced the coolest section of highway I have ever seen. I drove through the gorge. We got a load out of Charleston SC headed to KY on I 40. Would have liked to have seen it during the day but it was still awesome.

This part is for those who do not know what the gorge is. The gorge is a 25 mile section of I 40 between NC and TN. It is 2 lane with a truck restriction of only right lane travel. It has a safe speed of 55 mph max so about 45 50 for trucks it is very curvy as it crosses the pigeon river numerous time.

Just thought I would share it with you guys.

If you thought the Gorge was cool, wait until you drive I-15 between Arizona and Utah. That is friggin awesome! Or I-80 From Truckee going up Donner pass is also way cool.

Yeah, my trainer let me drive it a couple of weeks ago. Morning and it was beautiful. Fortunately the only ice was on the rocks to the side of the road.

Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel is a pretty cool experience. I wonder what the tolls are on it these days? I remember paying $40 to cross with an empty 53' trailer over 20 years ago.

Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel is awesome. I've driven over it a dozen times in my 4-wheeler going back and forth from NC to DE/PA. There are a couple good views on i76 west going through the mountains in central PA and into Pittsburgh. I can't wait to git on the road in a big 'ole rig! I'm ready to do a Ric Flair "WOO WOO WOO" just thinking about it! MAN! The waiting is killing me!

Glad you like it . . . honk as you go by - I live just north of the freeway as you start up the hill just past the Shell station on the right (going west) . . . I like to tell people that "That's where God goes when he takes a vacation!" My favorite vista is looking east towards Mt. Rose, the big 'ole mountain that stands over Reno . . . in the evening glow it is all rose colored and absolutely gorgeous . . . been there for 44 years now and I never get tired of the beauty . . .
