Hi all, sorry I haven't been able to report anything new. It's been a little over a week since I went on the road with my instructor we started on a roll with me driving most of the hilly and mountainous areas to five me confidence up and downshifting. So far we have had 4 days of driving since we left Springfield last Tuesday. Unfortunately his truck started to spew trouble codes on Monday. We limped to the Pittston terminal after losing power on uphill climbs. I have been making use of my time practicing pre trip inspections. Truck still in shop we may get out of here tomorrow. Keeping my head up

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Hang in there man....that's truckin. It won't be long and you'll be driving down the highway dreaming of the day you had all the time in the world to take a nap!

Yep, agree with Brett, hand in there :) It just occurred to me that breakdowns during training can actually be a good thing. You're getting real world scenarios on how to work with your company getting problems fixed while out there in the 'wild'. Much less stressful having your mentor there to show you how its done, so when it happens with your own truck, you'll be able to play it cool and know exactly what to do.... much better I'd say than having to learn it for the first time by yourself if you've never experienced it before.

Not. Fretting the layover a bit. I realize this is part of trucking, though I wish I was on the road. Thanks for all the encouragement. Soon to be outta here, thank goodness the Pittston terminal is very nice able to sleep in one of the bunkhouses and eat very reasonably here.

Wow Brian that's a bummer but I hear that terminal is better then sprimo... hopefully can get on the road again soonish. We spent about 8 hours yesterday with some tire repairs and a wheel seel on the right steer.
