As a new driver, is it better to be paid a percentage or so much per mile?
Don't quote me on this but I think with most of the big companies they pay CPM for a company driver and maybe o/o might get to pick but I'm not sure about that but you will find the smaller companies give you a choice and I'm not sure which is better but IMHO I would think the % of a load would be better but I'm sure that it probably adds up to about the same because I couldn't imagine a company lose money like that... Like I said don't quote me on that I've only been paid CPM
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
New OTR "company drivers" will pretty much always get paid by mileage. Local drivers are usually hourly.
The (pretty much) only drivers that get paid %-age of load - are LEASE (and if you're NEW, you don't want to do that right away) though most companies still pay CPM or Owner-Operators that are "leased on" to a company.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

TMC offers their company drivers the option of percentage or mileage. Every single one I've talked to chose percentage of what the load pays in order to maximize their pay.
So percentage pays more than by the mile? Is percentage the max you can make?
