Florida is a dead end state , all freight is north bound or run local. florida has 19 million people and millions of tourists eating, driving, renting motels and need many truck loads of goods every day. we in florida dont make anything to ship back out, cant put sunshine on a truck. so all loaded in and very few loads out, that makes the loads out very cheap and i mean not even covering expense let alone a profit. I spent a lot of years trying to beat the system and all i could do is make sure i got paid a good rate in because i had to deadhead out. when i had a truck payment i would stay out 4-6 weeks and come home a week, when i had my truck and trailer paid off i spent more time at home but only in the winter, to much money to be made in the summer to be home. florida is one of the worst states for trucking but one of the best states to live in.
To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.

I ask for home time and getting loads is like getting a death row pardon. I looked at load boards where they have one of those nifty maps of the country with color cordinated states to show freight loads per driver. All north west is like 4 to 5 loads. Some 3 to 4 and forida is like 0 to 1.
