Hey 6 String,
Nope. No one I know, P&D or L/H gets route guides. I've never seen or heard of them in the 2 months I've been with the company. And I didn't think you were being negative about the Rand. I thought your comments and those from everyone else have been very helpful.
Thanks!

Local drivers that stay around their area, usually within 100 mile radius of a terminal, picking up and delivering loads.
LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers for instance will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.

You know, I didn't know that those route guides were in the Blu either. None of my L/H trainers showed them to me - which really surprised me after I knew about them. That's something I would definitely show a trainee. They're there, for every dispatch. A linehaul driver will get a DIR 2 message and a Hook Card in the Blu's inbox for each dispatched trip. Company route guide is included in the DIR 2. The route guide gives directions and the alternate hazmat route if applicable. A driver can also go to dispatch and ask for the route guide to be printed out. This is at every terminal.
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
