D-Walsh; I don't know much about the bulk. I did orientation in Atlanta. I'm OTR out two weeks home two days, out two weeks home three days. I'm dry van. In dry van you can be regional & get home every weekend but you gotta be back out Monday am even if you didn't get home til Saturday pm. If I get home Saturday pm because of running a load I still get my 2/3 days off. I have family & miss being @ church on Sunday but I'm doing it now so in ten years I have more say in my work schedule. Plus I keep God in my daily routine. If you train in Atlanta Eugene H & Marcus are excellent. @ CDL school I had two instructors retired from SNI. Safety First & Always.

That's Good stuff Steve and man I Really appreciate you taking your time to speak with me and giving me insight on the trainers at SNI !!!! Stay in contact and Stay Safe!!!!!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

There are some drivers that will not give you the time of day. Fortunately they are the minority. In fact I have had several drivers take time to answer questions. The other day while on 30 minute break with my crew from school, a driver from Beacon Transport came into the lounge just to talk to us. There are a lot of great guys and gals out there. Like anything in life though, there is going to be bad with that good. Glad to see that you have chosen to be a good and professional driver. Good luck to you!

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Cool,,, Sounds like Schneider will do exactly what we want to and hopefully they'll cover the $25 luggage fee but that's not a biggie if they don't because with what your getting accomplished is will all be worth it in the end Michael!!!! All is going good. I bought some boots yesterday to work in and to climb on top of that tanker. Stay Focused & Stay Safe man you got this!!!!!!
