We make no attempt to hide the fact that there is a contract to sign and if you are not willing to sign the contract then you will need to make your own way home. If you're not prepared to do that and you can't afford to pay your own way back then PLEASE do not come out for orientation.

double-quotes-end.png

Ok let me try to explain this as clearly as I can, and I welcome your reasonable response to this:

1. You apparently do not allow prospective students to see and review the contract prior to coming to orientation.

2. Many (if not most) of the people who come to you are desperate, naive, new to the industry and/or unable to acquire employment at a typical company for various reasons. Most probably do not even understand the difference between company drivers and owner/operators.

When you combine these two facts, it gives us the impression that your company is preying on these people, drawing them to you without giving them all the facts, then making it difficult or even impossible for them to leave.

It's easy to say don't come to orientation if you're not willing to sign our contract, but when you dangle dollar signs in front of desperate people's eyes without giving them all the relevant and necessary information, you know full well what is going to happen.

The simple solution is to be totally upfront and transparent with everyone, and email them the contract well before they depart for your facility so that they can in fact get the legal advice you recommend they get.

If your company is unwilling to do that, the other solution would be to just pay the return trip costs for those who decline to sign the contract, since as I said before, they came to you in good faith and only declined as a result of your concealment of the full terms of employment until after they arrived.

Either one of these two options would go a long way towards reestablishing your credibility. But I have a feeling your company would be opposed to both, because they would severely undermine the predator/prey business model which seems to be Lobos' strategy, based on what we've been able to ascertain so far.

So can you please respond directly to these points?

And while I'm posting, I need to ask this: why on earth do you have a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR termination fee??? Ten thousand dollars, for what appears to be minimal training (if you can even call it that) and filing a few documents. That's well above what all the other carriers charge for several months of one-on-one training. How do you justify that?

Almost word for word how I would have responded, totally spot on! Couldn't agree more PC.

When I read Lobos' most recent reply I wondered if the respondent has ever read their contract because his points do not align with it and to an extent contradict the contract's language.

There MUST be a DECENT Attorney in the State of Utah that would be willing to represent these countless individuals who have been "wronged" by this outfit. I have never understood the type of people that are involved in an enterprise with the sole intent of SCREWING people. How they sleep at night, and can face themselves in the mirror is beyond me. Lobos obviously has no intention of running a legitimate business, despite LOBOS A's posts to the contrary. Hey Mr. Lobos A, ask God for forgiveness (He will forgive you), and move on to a legitimate way of making a living.

I think another possible approach is the Utah Labor Commission. I sent Charles a link a couple of days ago but since he didn't actually sign anything, there is no claim to be filed.

Lobos A? You there? I'd really like to hear your responses to the specific points I brought up, not just a deflecting pivot to your talking points. You must be monitoring this thread (if you're not receiving email notifications of replies, you probably should be!), so if you're still in the process of crafting a response, please let us know, otherwise it just looks like you're avoiding it.

I am still coordinating with the business owner to get this resolved and get all the facts on what happened with Chris on this end of things. I've alerted the business owners of the situation and I'm trying to get it resolved. We'll be in touch with Chris soon and I'll post more here if not this week then early next week. Sorry for the delay in responses, my time has been pretty limited this week.

Wow this is a long thread. It seems to me this goes a lot deeper than what happened to "Chris". I see a pattern of deceptive business practices that this company utilizes with most if not all of its "Students". C'mon Lobos A, just run a "Driving School" that treats people fairly, there are a lot of good ones out there. Study their business model and implement those things at your "School" and drivers will flock to you. I'm not quite sure why you signed on to work for a company with a history of shady business practices. Instead of carrying the owners water for him, move on. You are not doing yourself or your reputation any good.

Exactly the same thing I was saying earlier. This guy is going way above his paygrade to cover up things that don't even really seem to be his fault. If I were him I'd go find a new job where I'm not working for a crook.

I believe this is the third time I have asked Lobos to call me back about my travel reimbursement on here this week? I was in contact with a man in the office at approx 5pm (mountain time). He took my adress down and stated that I would be contacted soon. Did you mail my check out Lobos? I really want to know! Today I had to reapply for food stamps and welfare. I have not done this in years. A few times in my life I was on food stamps but never full blown welfare when I was not working for several weeks. The agony I went through has basically made me temporarily mentally ill/disabled with depression, anxiety and trauma. Weeks ago I thought I would be banking some hard earned cash with Lobos and feeling optimistic and stable. I was doing fine prior to early Feb, saving for this opportunity and leaving a decent paying job. Now I'm sick and ill. I believe my medicaid expired (which I got being unemployed in truck driving school last year). Tommorow I have an appointment with health and human services to get back on medicaid so I can get counseling to cope with the trauma and agonizing pain from the sacrifice I made then being mislead, in my opinion, and scared ****less over a contract that could easily have ruined my life for good. When war vets come back home some have PTSD. I may have this from my experience at Lobos aswell as other experiences. It feels as if this put the nail to thr coffinm I want it to go away. I want my life to get better and moving forward is so difficult especially over this reimbursement delay.

I set up a page on fundme.Com (I'm sit ting on the couch with my cat). Any donation is great and no one aside from my parents has helped me in the past. I have done countless deeds and usually never get anything in return. At Lobos I drove a 73 year old man home to Kentucky from Salt Lake City area. He had no way to get home after he decided he didn't want to sign the contract or attend the school from the best of my knowledge. He paid about $50 in fuel bUT I paid for a double bed hotel, $25 in fuel, food, went 300 miles and 8 hours out of my way and didnt visit my brother who lives in Jackson Wyoming. I did all of this so this man wouldn't get stranded and possibly die 1600 miles from home with no money to get back. He is a friend now and I still talk to him. This just adds to all the pain and suffering I'm in . 5000 miles of driving, one month out of my life to now seeking welfare and mental health treatment instead of being in the career I chose and love. It will take a few more weeks or maybe several months to get back on the road. I need to get better and have less doubt in myself and potential opportunities as a company driver. After the experience with Lobos many in my opinion would never get in a truck again. Some would possibly commit suicide. Thankfully I don't have those thoughts. If your broke and chose not to sign the contract at Lobos please contact me immediately so I can try to help you out in the future when I have money saved up.

Thanks for all your support. Any donation helps. If I get food stamps tommorow I'll lower the donation amount. I believe it's $400.00. Enough to get by with gas and maybe have a pizza and I'll be happy.
