Communist territory? Your president is in bed with Putin
99.9% of all companies prohibit firearms on their vehicles. Likewise with shipper and receivers.
So - while FEDERAL LAW does not prohibit personal firearms in a CMV , company policies do. If you get caught - you will be FIRED.
That, and there's the issue of CWP reciprocity between states. My Florida is good except for in the communist territories (the Northeast, Chicago, Cali, etc.).
Even if you are licensed, even if you choose to ignore company policy - you run a severe risk having a pistol in states where you are not reciprocal or worse - illegal.
As far as Pepper Spray - laws on carrying those vary from state to state.

Not commenting on the merits of whether or not aforementioned states are communist territory, I just wanted to point out Putin isn't a communists by definition. It is true he is on the left when it comes to his beliefs in entitlements, but he is a nationalist first and foremost which is anathema to communists. He is closer to being far right than far left.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Just out of curiosity, what Country do you live in? The current President of the United States of America is Donald Trump. He is my President. For the past 8 years my President was Barack Obama. What is your point?
Can you believe it, but according to Bud's Gun Shop in Kentucky, which is where I order most of my firearms from, batons of any type are illegal in my state. I don't even know if they're even legal for law enforcement or security guards as the local cops quit carrying them years ago. I never paid attention to the neighboring township or county police so I don't know for sure.
I suggested batons - because they are compact, until the moment you need them. A small Louisville Slugger, or tire whacker - will work just as well.
They are illegal TO CARRY CONCEALED in many states - the legality of having them in a car/truck is a different story.
Ohio Expandable Self Defense Baton Laws
The original topic of this post - was drivers with CARRY PERMITS.
Here's a list of State Baton Laws. An expanded baton - would be similar to a simple metal pipe - it's just easier to store and conceal when it's retracted.

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
I have a 73 ft long, 80,000 pound vehicle and two inch long fangs. I don't need.any additional weapons lol
Are there any reports of truck drivers being injured or killed in the course of their jobs?
I agree with the premise that everyone has a right to self protection, but I think that situational awareness should come first. After that, there should be training with use of weapons (merely having a weapon does not give you an edge in a life-or-death situation). Part of that training should include legal consequences. If you're going to arm yourself, you need to know fully what you're getting into. If you're not willing to accept the responsibilities that come with possession of weapons and use of force, then don't have weapons in the first place.
I had mentioned Wasp spray in a different post but thats too dangerous, Bear spray is better its legal most places and if you happen to come to Canada. Of course a person could be charged if misused but in self defense what the heck.
I asked what the most deadly weapon was a person could legally carry in a thread similar to this, and I was told it was a knife. I've gone shopping picked out a knife I consider perfect for a truck driver. It has a glass breaker, and a seat belt cutter (So I can pull someone from a burning car if I happen upon one), and a 3" blade. It's what rescue workers carry for saving people.
I'm wondering though... is this going to be generally legal throughout all states? Do companies allow it?
I don't want to waste money on it if some giant walking female parts decide to tell me I can't carry it as a truck driver. I'm already a well trained grappler, and I generally doubt I look like someone to choose to mess with, but who knows. I also like that I could potentially save a life with it.

A large flat blade screwdriver is very practical, I have one with a 12" shank. My martial arts training included a lot of running practice, running is a good survival skill.

Your best weapon...
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
