Hey man, thanks a lot. That's really great to hear. I've done this trucking thing before, I was stupid and let my CDL lapse. No I'm just jumping through the hoops all over again. Other newbies, if you stop driving for any reason take it from me, KEEP CDL CURRENT! Lol

Jay, I can't really tell from your post what exactly is going on. I do just want to clarify something though. When you show up for orientation at Knight, or any other company for that matter, you will be going through another physical. Your current medical card will be considered null, and they will have their physician of choice put you through the ringer and determine if you are good to go.
When I started at Knight Transportation there were two candidates in our group of nine that went home because the physician recommended a sleep study for them. They were both big guys, one obese, the other fella just a big man.
I went through the terminal in Gulfport, Mississippi and their physical was one of the most ardent ones I have ever been through. Lots of lifting, and exertion type activities like going up and down steps for a measured time period, lifting weights up over our head and placing them on a shelf, then returning them to the floor repeatedly, carrying weights back and forth up and down the hallway ten times - stuff like that. All of these activities were then followed by measuring our heart rate and seeing how long it stayed elevated - things like that.
The two guys that went home did so because they both refused to take the sleep study. Had they been willing to accept the docs recommendation I'm confident they would be gainfully employed along with me. I know it is a real nuisance now days, but from what I've heard from several close friends who have started using the CPAP machine, due to their employer requiring it as a result of their sleep study results, it has been a game changer for not only their quality of sleep, but also a major change in their quality of life. They had no idea what they were missing out on until they got started with the sleeping aid.

I did the DOT physical and Knight physical already. Through a place they sent me. The physician there recommended a sleep study due to BMI and neck size. I was able to successfully complete the lift tests and all other things during the physical. If the safety department approves my sleep study I am more than willing to take part. The recruiter told me I pay 90 bucks and a machine is sent to me (its a home sleep study) I was just nervous about the "safety department approval" bit. But as far as the Knight physical and DOT physical, I passed all requirements.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Okay, now I understand, thanks for clearing that up. I'm not sure how to answer you then, but I don't think you'll have too much of a problem. Did they indicate a time frame that they would be getting back to you?

Umm keeping your cdl current will not mean you won't have to go back for training. Take that from me. Even with a current cdl, if you go more than 6 months without driving a rig, 99% of the time you will need to go back to a school for a refresher. I've had a current cdl for 20 years now. I didn't drive tractor trailer for 14. Even though I never let my dot card expire and kept the cdl, I had to take a 80 hour refresher before ANY company I talked to would put me in a truck. It's an insurance company thing. So quite frankly it didn't matter you let yours lapse. You would have had to take a course anyway.

Knight sent me home for sleep apena study, I too was nervous, I just quit my postal job. I did the study and results came back normal. I think worse case would be Capp machine. Going there march 2 perhaps see you there if you are going to the indianopolis terminal.

This whole sleep study thing has me as nervous as a *****cat in a room fullnof rocking chairs. I have to hope Knights safety people approve it. Worst case scenario I guess I look for a more relaxed company? I've got a 3 month cert and I'll have my permit Tuesday.
