We always inspect the outside of a trailer during the Pre-Trips and Post-Trips, but who thinks to look for damage to the inside of a trailer? Well, I guess I know now. We can't always inspect the inside of a trailer, especially if it is a drop and hook on a PRELOADED and PRESEALED trailer, but I forgot to check it after unloading. When I went to my next pick up, the trailer was rejected at the wash out station.

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

We have a friend (O/O) who hates getting loads to WalMart, cuz they are always poking holes in either the trailer walls, or his reefer unit, on the inside. I don't get it, your on a hyster, you go in the trailer, spear a pallet, pick it up, back out...dang...the people some outfits hire.....

If you have a decent phone, with a good camera...or even a digital camera that you can preview your pics on, it would get you ahead to snap pics before loading, after loading and before unloading and after unloading.....you'd find any damage, and prove who did it.....

I also hate getting Walmart loads! It's always something over there. Last time I was there I arrived early but security had a line and took a while. Then I get my assigned dock door and while I'm driving to it they give it to some other driver. So I head inside and tell them I no longer have a door. They assign me one and I give them paperwork. This entire process took a while and when I have them paperwork they asked me why I'm late.....

I was early. I worked at a shipping/recieving warehouse for a year as the forklift driver loading and unloading. I know exactly how it is and walmart seriously has no idea how to run it. Usually when I deliver to walmart I set my PTA for the next day. I've gotten late on my pickup because walmart took over 6 hours so many times I learned my lesson.

Starcar, usually when they are poking the trailer is because their equipments forks are longer than the pallet. So you have a lot of overhang and the driver isn't aware of where the end of the forks are. My forklifts forks were sticking three inches past the end of the pallet. I always had to place the pallet, back up, then push the pallet in order to not do any damage.
