Does DST happen on the same date every year? I always thought it did. I don't ever remember DST happening this close to my birthday (7th) Why is it happening so early this year?

It occurs on the second Sunday in March, and the first Sunday in November.

Here's an unusual thing. Since I started working for Knight Transportation, for the purposes of our logs, we are considered as being dispatched out of the headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. They don't participate in the whole daylight savings time thing over there in Phoenix. I was very confused at first about the time on my Qualcomm , until I finally realized what was going on.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Don't forget that this change will affect your 10 or 34 breaks. If you happen to get a strict DOT officer he can put you out of service for 10 hours if you forget about it. I wonder how many they catch with this little tidbit of knowledge? It will also affect your delivery time giving you 1 hour less to get to the destination.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

What chickens are you getting Brett? we got Rhode Island Reds.....

I'm getting a "pot luck dozen" mix of layers this spring. I always have a dozen or so of the Red Comet layers running around so I thought I just get a random mix and look at all the pretty colors. I'll also be getting 45 of the white commercial meat chickens in three batches of 15 throughout the summer and I'll be raising a dozen turkeys also. And I always raise two steers every year for beef and this year I'll be getting a couple of pigs for the first time. I hear they're smart and I could use some help with this website so we'll see!

Does that go for all of Knight ? If so, what time are they on in Phoenix, is it mountain ?

AZ stays on mountain time. So those of us east of there will spring forward away from them adding one hour to the time difference. Pacific time peeps spring forward to join them so they will be on the same time.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
