When I was looking for schools I looked at your list of credited schools. I live 30 minutes away from Clermont so I looked at 5. Commercial Driver Services 13510 Granville Ave Clermont, FL 34711. It doesn't exist. :( Unless that is there small office and they are off site. I would understand. But that address is for a flooring company. I was hoping they had a number to give them a call but I couldn't find a number for them either.

May I ask why? I picked TDI because everything I've read shows they have smaller class sizes. Thanks! :)

Mostly out of convenience. But also they helped me with every question I had. Financing ($6995.00,more than I expected though), pre-hire (I learned this from them). They train you to drive there in new equipment. Don't know of other schools so it's not like I can compare them.

Pre-hire:

What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?

Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.

We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.

A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment

The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.

During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

That's $1k more then the TDI financed option. TDI doesn't have any options except for their M-F, 3 week program so that doesn't work for some since you'll be not working and earning $ for that period. I've had to save up and plan very carefully to be able to do it.

Best of luck to both of us! When do you start? I'm starting March 16th. I'm nervous and excited all at once! I'm making my way (slowly) thru the High Road training program here so that I'll have a bit of a head start once school starts.

It would be great to stay in touch during training since we are close! :)

That was my biggest concern. That is the closest one to me. 45 minutes away. I have the option of starting the 16th as well. The convenience is due to my tight schedule. I may just do weekends only. Still deciding I'm afraid. The weekends last 2 months since since it's weekends only.
