Manufacturer recommends big side inside. Just a thought... Maybe this should be a pretrip check of manufacturer recommendation...

To clarify big side = larger diameter

Also if your air connection is leaking with new rubbers, then the steel part of the glad hand is bent, just seen a Video where the driver Wacked the steel part tighter against the cat walk, Crude but effective

Interesting. I'm really confused now. I just watched the video, and it looks like he's installing the grommets with the smaller end into the housing, leaving the larger end on the outside. I thought you described the video just the opposite. Anyhow, I've seen it done both ways, but have always been told, by numerous folks (and watching numerous mechanics), to install with the smaller side facing out - opposite of this video.

no no.... he is installing the larger diameter portion into the housing with the smaller, thicker portion outside to make the contact.

....are you drinking again.. lol

It didnt' appear that way to me at all. Looked like he installed with larger end facing out.

Actually it does according to Phillips lol they seemed to be the most informative.

Here's what I got from Phillips in more detail.

We have two different kinds what part number do you have?

No part number just a friendly bet.

Ok, we have two kinds. One has a convex side and flat side put the flat side inside and the convexed side out.

Is the convexed side bigger or smaller

Its thinner.

Diameter wise

Its bigger

Now what about the other kind. The other kind is flat on both sides but for your question the small diameter goes inside.

Also looking back at the conversation with energy suspension the flat side inside probably indicates they have a convex outside also.

In the pictures it appears their convex side is smaller in diameter...

Back to manufacturers recommendation. And I can find the fone number to the first one I ccalled or we would have at least a list of 3 manufacturers and their recommendation...
