Our recruiter said that it will not count and that we need a W2. We did do a lot of cash jobs and were claimed as dependents on our parent's tax returns. We are going to try to speak to a manager tomorrow. Another recruiter said that he would take it fine, but that we were tied to the recruiter we started with. So we will see. =/
I'm "cornfused " ... both recruiters are with Prime? I thought the determining factor was company policy, not the individual decision of each recruiter ... I'd ask to talk to a "higher" authority to get the final determination ... they don't want to switch recruiters because they work on a commission basis but I think you could ask to get a clear, concise answer from some sort of supervisor and the original recruiter would still land the commission ... just me thinking out loud - so you can't rely on what I say, get the skinny from someone in the recruiting department at Prime ... good luck ...

When I started for Prime back in 2010 before that I was a house Framer and I DIDN'T get a w-2 or a1099 . I worked for the same guy (framing company) since 1989 and he paid me but every year it was up to me to firgue out what I made never gave out w-2 or 1099. Prime took his word that I worked for him. They never asked me for proof of a w-2. They just called himand he verfied over the phone..I think they also faxed him a piece of paper he had to fill out stating that I worked for him and faxed it back.
Our recruiter seems to not know of any other verifiable ways, however this may be because she is set in what may have been policy before since she has been there a while. We got E's old boss on the line and got some clearer answers about what happened on the phone. Apparently the verifyer had asked about sending a paper over for them to sign saying I did work for them and the manager got spooked thinking it would be reported to the IRS. After talking about it to the second recruiter we were informed it was more of a precaution based on 9/11 so that the DOT can see where we were. E has to call back in a bit to get more details but we hopefully will be able to get out work history cleared up to go onto the next step.
We are currently trying to get a manager on the line from Prime to see what exactly needs to be done before E calls her old boss back and explains everything again.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Okay, another update. Sorry about the pestering posts and such also. Our recruiter finally told us today that they emailed E's previous employer with something to fill out and sign and send back, kind of like a the fax James' friend received. She said that if they send that back, it may work. We will keep you informed. -J
Well it seems to have failed. Not because of Prime, but because the previous employer was scared to sign anything. They thought that it would lead to the IRS. We explained but they would not listen, so we are out of options. -J
Your right it doesnt go to the IRS because I know it didnt for my old Boss because he would have been screwed since he had 15 guys working for him,
That is what we told them. But they are too spooked so now we don't have work history. It seems we might be at the end of our journey before we even started.

Should also add that we worked for one company part time for the last year-ish. They are willing to sign and prove anything. But as I said before, it was under the table. Hopefully I can get everything squared up tomorrow. We would really like to start on with Prime and we have everything else handled and done. Just missing that work history verification. =/
