Haven't had that happen to me yet. I did have some guy try to sell me some sunglasses, I was wearing my sunglasses at the time.
Another time I saw a lot lizard approaching my truck, before she got to my door I started talking to my girlfriend in the sleeper, when she heard her voice she turned around and went to another truck. This guy let her in and she used his radio to sell her services, when she got no responce she and that driver disappeared into his sleeper.
Truckstops can be entertaining, just don't let your guard down.

When I drove solo for Schneider, I threw one of my wife's odds purses on the dash. Was told it kept the lizards away. I never got bothered by any. Lol

Haven't seen this topic on TT. I'm at a truck stop taking a nap (moving out at 2am). Someone knocks on my door, so I open it to see what's up.
The guy is excited about something, at the back of my own trailer. A bump? Needs help? Can't be sure so I get out & follow him. Around back of my trailer are three other guys, all excited. One of them has a big wad of $100 bills. He shows them to me, lays three cards face down on the asphalt. Somebody points to one, it's the queen of hearts. (Can you tell where this is going?)
It's easy to win, if that's all there is, just watch as the guy flops the cards back and forth, then point at the queen.
This is a game of Three Card Monte, a con game, a scam. Keep your hands in your pockets, your money, too.
Wow, this story reminds me of my first driver trainer ( I had two ), he told me of when he was approached by a couple guys at a rest area, he paid a couple hundred dollars for a really nice camcorder shrink wrapped in the original box. When he got it back in his truck and opened the box, he found he had paid a couple hundred dollars for a really nice brick. He told me it never occurred to him that these con-men would have access to shrink wrapping equipment. He learned a very expensive lesson that day and wanted to make sure that none of his student drivers ever made the same mistake that he did.
You had a good driver trainer there, Arejay. A truck stop parking area has lots of bored people (mostly guys). Easy target for tons of scams.
To put this in perspective, though, in the two months I've been passing time in truck stops, I've been approached only one other time: a guy had some "high quality" jewelry he wanted to show me. Overall, I haven seen to many problems like this at truck stops.
Somebody knocked on your window while you were sleeping for that? You must be a pretty cool customer. I'd have the fury of a thousand burning suns if someone woke me up for that crap.
Uh.... ???? You got out of your truck and followed some guy to the back of your trailer ???? You're not in Kansas anymore Toto !
You're lucky you were not robbed or worse.
While you were out back someone else was in your truck checking it out?

I wasn't sawing the logs zzzz, just laying back, Dude. And yes, I thought someone was about to bump my trailer.

Time of day: 1pm. Doug, I am parked close to the store and the parking area is wide open. Also, I'm a big guy - more intimidating than intimidated.

Mr Smith, if I'm not on the truck, the doors are locked. When I am asleep, same thing.
