You don't know me and I dont know you but my lurking on this site lets me know you are well loved by all here.
You have a fight ahead of you but modern medicine has cured two family members of prostrate cancer and you will come out of this setback with a new outlook and renewed vigor. Fight the fight and you will win. All the best!
That's awesome Ernie. The sooner they get started the sooner you can get back to your normal life.
Do they tell you how long you'll be receiving treatments or does it depend upon how quickly they get results?

Brett,
According to the Dr, I start the actual treatments on the 18th of May and will be out about 11 - 12 weeks. Which means if all goes well, I will possibly be ready to go back to work about the middle of August. A lot depends on how well I respond to the treatments and there are no complications with the treatment.
Will keep everyone updated throughout this whole thing.

Ok, I go in tomorrow to have the radioactive seeds implanted.
5 weeks later I will start radioactive therapy in addition to the seeds.
I hope all goes well going forward.

Good luck to you tomorrow Ernie. It sounds like you are under good care and have a solid treatment plan. I hope everything responds quickly and trouble free for you. See you out on the road soon.
Just keep moving forward Ernie. I know there is always some nagging anxieties when you are dealing with something like this, but the best thing to do is just face it head on, keep up the faith, try to relax a little and enjoy your time at home. Thanks so much for keeping us posted. I know that plenty of us are praying for you, and are looking forward to seeing you back out here chasing that long black ribbon.
They can't just remove your prostate, or remove the cancerous chunks, and use stem cells to reproduce it?

Daniel,
Because of prior health issues is the reason I chose not to have surgery. The risk of other complications that I am not ready/willing to have to deal with is why I elected not to have surgery.
Besides, the success rate is not that much different than having radiation treatment that is another reason I chose not to have invasive surgery.
As far as using stem cells, because I am retired military the Tricare health system would more than likely not approve the use because of cost.
Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions, much appreciated.

Had my in office procedure earlier today. All went well. Can't drive for the next few days (that's gonna really suck). But other than feeling really tired & sore, not to bad off at the moment.

Ok, met with the Dr that is going to be doing the radiation treatment. After reviewing my medical files, scans, etc he is recommending a combination of radioactive seeds directly into my prostate and radiation treatments.
So starting the 18th of May, I will be on medical leave from JB Hunt until all my treatments are completed.
Will keep everyone updated as this progresses.
