Took me a couple of months to get this strait. When you are accurate with your PTA, I mean within a hour the planners will usually keep you moving. I was wondering why my budy was doing so bad out here and drilled him on his routine. Found out he is to erratic with his PTA and the planners just didn't know what to do with him. He is doing much better now. When you say your going to be there, try to get there. If you need a break set your PTA for a break when you pick up your load, get that load there when you say, then take the break. Planners love it when you are consistent with your PTA and they pay it back with good miles and nice loads.

For those who don't realize what Atilla is referring to, he's talking about your Projected Time of Availability and he's absolutely correct with his comments. That is one of the most critical things you want to get right if you want to make some good money at this. Depending on the length of my trips, I'm sometimes giving my PTA as far as three days in advance and then updating it each day until I deliver. This way the load planners have a window of opportunity to make sure your next load is profitable for you and for them.

Thanks for jumping in with the definition Old School :) I was wondering and trying to figure out what PTA was while reading that. Makes sense. Also sounds like another acronym for Brett to add to the TT Glossary.
