I need to weigh my tarps, next time I have a chance I'll do it and report back on that. I'm guessing my lumber tarps are around 50-75 lbs but that's just a guess.
Most shippers will use the forklift to place your tarps on top of your load then you just have to roll them out. The toughest part for me is lifting them up to put them up on the headache rack, I like them put away so I usually put them up there unless it's pouring down rain or super cold out. But you can just strap them to the trailer if you don't want to do all that.
You can handle it we're about the same weight, think I might have 5 lbs on you not sure, I haven't stepped on a scale since my physical for medical card a year ago.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
You should be able to life about 100 pounds to your shoulders. If you can do that you should be able to get those tarps where they need to be. Different companies will have different tests they'll give you to make sure you can pick up some weight and move around with it. It wouldn't be over 100 pounds though I'm sure.
So this question goes out to all the flatbeders on here. How much do tarps generally weigh and what can I do to be able to lift them with ease? I'm a small guy weighing in at 135 soaking wet lol and I eventually want to go into flat bedding and just wanna prepare myself before I actually venture out into it
I have been in the meat business for much of my life so lifting things that are flimsy is not hard to me as opposed to lifting things like weights or rocks. I would wear an old leather weight lifting belt like you would use to do squats when I would break down the meat loads( while young guys whined it was heavy and took them longer). You have to be careful with things that shift because it is easy to throw your back if you jerk to recover. I also do crunches and sit ups to keep abdomen strong and back straight. You will find it is what they call the core muscles that you need to keep strong with allot of this kind of lifting. Do push-ups everyday and maybe some weights to strengthen your shoulders and arms. People would ask me "does that thing work"? Others asked "does that reduce stomach fat"? It did both and it keeps you from becoming tired quickly. If you lift all day long you are less likely to hurt yourself while just one quick move without taking your time has injured people for life. I am glad I have no back pains at my age and do not plan to have any. Be careful every time you have to lift.
