Welcome Logan. I filled the online app and got a call the same day from the recruiter. She told me to study general knowledge, air brakes, combination and tanker to get my permit. I think getting your permit first before heading there would free up time to study up on other stuff. After orientation I believe you hop on a trainers truck and do 10k miles and then head back to Springfield to test out for the CDL. Hope that answers your questions. I should know by tomorrow of all the details.

Thanks for the info. I actually just spoke with the recruiter Ive been going through to training materials on here as well as reading on my own to try and prepare myself. They said theyre just waiting to verify my employment and the background check shouldn't be any issues there. She said I should be going on 4/20 as long as nothing gets held up.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Update: my orientation for Prime just got pushed back to 4/20 so I may see you there, Logan.

My recruiter said there's been a shortage of trainers and now an overflow of applicants.

I'll be starting orientation on 4/13 too. Excited to get everything going. I've been studying every free second I have and I'm feeling pretty good about the permit test. Looking forward to getting out on the road and learning the trade. Have some areas of concern for the driving part, but I know my trainer will teach me what to do so I can pass the driving test.

Yea Doc I feel the same way...excited and concerned, but I'm positive the trainers will teach us what we need to know. You going to Springfield as well?

So my recruiter called me today and told me that my packet was complete and that I was good to go. Apparently a bunch of people that are starting orientation on the 13th haven't completed their packet. I take my permit test on Tuesday and have 3 days and 6 attempts to pass.
