Holy cr*p Ken. I just noticed you live in Huntersville. I used to live in Huntersville for a few years. That was back almost 20 years ago on Ramah Church Road.

Do you know a dude that just goes by "Barefoot"? About 42 years old or so. Super cool dude. A staple of the Huntersville. I roomed with him for a while.

When I first moved there Cornelius was nothing but woods. But the NASCAR craze of the 90's just made that area explode! Now I'm not sure if Cornelius even has a tree in it anymore! rofl-3.gif

Huntersville. Small world.

Hahaha...Yeah it really is small world, I've been in Huntersville for the last 18 yrs, I'm right off I-77 at exit 23 and it has grown just like Davidson & Cornelius and Mooresville...! Racing, Banking and Trucking are what we are known for and part of the reason I'm looking at Trucking is because our Good Manufacturing Jobs are leaving and not coming back..Don't think I know Barefoot but might if I saw him... Great Site, helps me understand a lot about what's coming my way when I start this chapter of my working life..:)

I currently work as a Company Driver for CRE. I had a horrible experience getting through their school and OTJ training program. When I started driving for them the taint of my bad experience in the school stopped me from looking objectively at how they were treating me as a Company Driver. I have to say it has been good. No one has ever talked to me about leasing. I was told in the school that they have went to a policy of only leasing to drivers with 2 or more years of experience. Like everyone else, I would like to earn more and be home more. But they have paid me what they told me they would pay me and they've gotten me home when I'm suppose to be home. They've been understanding about the wrong turns I've made, the 2 times I stopped because of weather and safety is a big concern for them. But the school was hell.

no! I work for ptl in Murray, ky I thought they were on the lower end of what I wanted as a first job in the industry but come to find out that a lot of the bigger companies like swift and cr England and others arnt as good as the recruiter makes them out to be ptl starts you out at .33 cpm and you can easily make 900 in your training

Does anyone know if CR England is a good company to work for?

During the Phase I Training, you might be in a truck with a second student. You might be in a cab with one trainer and a second student. I think that could be a minus point. You however can tell the TC/Trainer Coordinator that you want to be in a truck only with one trainer, but not with second student.

I'm in dire straights here. I cant sit around another month playing phone tag with recruiters. I know I can pass the written knowledge tests,I have a mechanical back round,so pre trip is just a review of stuff I already know. I cant stand sitting at home, watching the bills show up every day. I want to drive a truck. I'd almost work for free if I didn't have a house note. Already have judgements against me,and bankruptcy is my next step,If I don't find work like yesterday. My bus ticket is waiting. Id appreciate any comments from previous or current cre drivers. After 1 year 9 months whatever,I can look for something better. What type of trucks does cre use? They look pretty nice whenever I notice them. Thanks.

They have really nice equipment. I'm not even sure what brands they're running right now.

I just got an email like two weeks ago from one of the owners of CR England saying they've made a ton of improvements to their company-sponsored training program and they wanted to update me on the changes. Unfortunately I haven't gottenall of them yet but we'll be updating it pretty soon. I did get some info though....

From the gist of what he was saying...apparently they don't lease to drivers with less than one year experience anymore. That was one big complaint against em - they used to push leasing on new drivers. That's gone. They also said the schooling is now free if you stay for nine months I think it is. The schooling used to be rather expensive, but not anymore. I didn't get anymore details yet but they've clearly made strides to improve their program and make it more competitive with other company-sponsored programs.

I'd love to hear how things go for ya once you get there. I'm always glad to hear about companies upping their standards so I'm curious about the changes they've made.

Company-sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

Every truck I see on the road seems to be looking for drivers with a safe driving record. Everyone wants a year of experience,so how is anyone, going to get that experience, without getting in a truck and showing their skills. I've been working steady since I was 16 years old and have never had trouble finding work. Since I'm a little older, things are different. Everywhere I look which has a help wanted sign, they want you to apply online. The personality tests are really funny. When I do get an interview, the guy interviewing me is about 20. I do very well in the personal interview, just need to get to that stage.

I was looking at there school i saw a ad that said 6 month contract so i was like koool school is like 25 mins south of me great 17 school nice 4 weeks with trainer at 425.00 week not so good but better then nothing then i get a call this morning to set it all up she ask me a few ? ok she asked about a speeding ticket i got last dec. no big deal 14 over ok she asked if that was all done no im making payments on oh we cant move forward till its all payed off because if u miss a payment they could suspend your lic wtf she said give her a call back when i have it payed off then i got a e-mail they had sent me this morning where it says 9 month contract not 6 so could of glad it worked out this way

I talked to a recruiter the other day it's a 6 month contract if you're a veteran I'm supposed to start training there end of this month yes I've heard the bad comments but saw some good ones as well but I'm not scared to work hard. If I don't like how things are done I'll do my contract and find another company to work for I also don't plan to lease due to being a new driver.
