It's happened to all of us at one time or another, but when one falls ILL WITH the flu or explosive diarrhea episodes-every 5 minutes etc obviously too sick to drive and you have a HOT LOAD/time sensitive to deliver, what's the best remedy for this situation. Especially With some OTC medicines that could make you operate 'under the influence'. sorry.gif

Thankfully, I'd never gotten sick like this while on the road, but I would presume you should call your FM immediately to let them know of your situation and exact location so they can make plans to have another driver come to possible save the load. If you are very ill, you may want to seek out a nearby emergency room or urgent care clinic. I recall reading a couple years ago about another driver who became very ill while on the road, If I recall the details correctly, his company had the police check on him and they took him to the hospital by ambulance. He was in the hospital for a couple weeks from some really nasty life threatening food poisoning from a sandwich he had for lunch.

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Maybe a 5 gallon bucket will help you be able to drive. a bed pan... or you can just call your DM and say Im not going to make it, letting them figure it out...

what you do alone cannot embarrass you if you don't tell on yourself.

DayQuil for the flu, Imodium AD for the diarrhea. You will feel like crap (pun intended) but you should be able to get the load there on time. Let your FM know what is going on, what you are doing, and if you will need "down time" once you make delivery. Neither DayQuil nor Imodium AD will cause you to drive under the influence. Just a thought... Happy trucking Trish
