Travis there are a ton of solo drivers running out west, so I wouldn't be worried that it is all teams. I work for Knight, but I'm running in the East. They usually have plenty of regional opportunities at their individual terminals. I'm not sure what all is available in Phoenix, but that is their headquarters. You should check with them and see what kind of opportunities they have available. I know Prime has a lot of runs in the west, as do most of the refrigerated companies. Not sure what type of freight you're wanting to pull, but there are opportunities for all of them over in the Western parts of the country.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
I'm moving to Phoenix in the next few days; it's my understanding that there are a lot of 'western 11' regional opportunities out there (I'm actually more interested in running all 48, at least to begin with); not sure if this means anything, but it seems that a lot of companies have terminals in Phoenix, mostly in the southwest corner of the Metro area - I believe most of them are in a suburb called Tolleson

So here in a few months me and the ole lady are moving from the hills of West Virginia out to the desert of Arizona. I've got 6 months OTR experience but my question is how many regional/dedicated kind of opportunities are out there? I know back east there's a million jobs to have for the picking, so do things run the same out west? I know it's a little different story since everything is so spread out. I've been with US Xpress and they've been good to me so far, let me run good and hard, but I'm thinking them, probably like most companies, only want team drivers out west. Anyone have any recommendations for good companies to look into out there?

Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
