I have a learning disability and I am about to be going to school soon but only thing that's is stressing me is the permit test
Where do you live?
Hey Andy. I see you just started our High Road Training Program. That's the best way on Earth to learn the materials for your CDL permit and endorsements.
Here's how our program breaks down:
To Get Your CDL Permit:
To get your CDL endorsements which are optional but we highly recommend you get:
And two sections we've built ourselves with info you'll need for everyday life on the road but the manual doesn't really cover it:
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.
A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.
Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Not slighting your difficulties, but I wanted to tell you that you are not alone when it comes to learning challenges. This site was crucial to getting a head start. you can youtube anything! APEX puts out some good videos. In addition, get a CDL MANUAL and as you go through sections, USE A HIGHLIGHTER, and highlight the key points. Then go back and study your highlights. (separates the mumbo/jumbo) Good Luck! Remember, any questions, pose them to this site, these guys are awesome!

I have to know why something is relevant rather than just taking in information. I think if you were to find out why and what function something serves it will be easier than just trying to remember answers to a question. Permit test will be somewhat easy, with the hardest part being the states special requirement test. How many feet can something hang off the front or back of the truck or trailer and what color of flag do you hang off of it? What reflectors can slow farm equipment use and stuff like that. The other test like air brakes you can study why and how the system works which will make it easier to learn and understand. Don't sweat it you have three shots upon payment so even if you fail the first one you can see which questions you missed and be prepared for the second.
