Welcome aboard!
I'm not sure if you just discovered us or have been lurking in the shadows for a while, but you are welcome here and we will be glad to lend a hand to you anytime you need some advice. You'll find that you can get some good honest support here that doesn't necessarily follow along with the trending ideas that are current at most truck stops and cafes where truckers hang together.
I have been on here, reading articles during the process of deciding what direction to go. An article on this website was the proverbial tie breaker, that made us choose CRST. I do however wish that you guys had an iPhone app for accessing this, but I will just keep it bookmarked in my browser. I'm hoping to get my wife on here as well, as there is a section for ladies in this industry to get advice.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Yay!!!! We are finally on a truck together. The truck sucks, it was a rescue, and the previous occupants didn't even try to clean it. They are working on getting us a new truck. We spent hours cleaning this truck, and now can't wait to get a load out, and get started making money together.
Hey congrats to you guys! Yeah, we've all done the "truck recovery" thing and it's horrible every time. But hey, that's part of paying your dues. If you'll cooperate and handle the tough jobs they give you, you'll be rewarded with gravy runs as a thank you.
Yeah, and this one was worth the work, the last occupant left a bunch of stuff that we won't have to buy now. We probably got $120 worth of stuff that's either brand new or close.
My wife and I have recently become OTR truck drivers. So far the experience has been very different, yet awesome. We work for CRST. I am leaving today to get started on the road while she finishes her training. We will meet up in a couple weeks, and begin our journey together. We have made several good friends through this process so far, and look forward to making many more.
Where did you go to orientation at? CRST has like 5 terminals. I'm in Oklahoma right now. :)
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
We did our training in Cedar Rapids, though we have been in Okc a few times.

Oh. Awesome! My classmate Tanya's actually in Cedar Rapids, IA right now.
Well they finally got us out of Cali. The truck broke down in Utah, we made it like 700 miles of a 2000 mile trip. The good news is we have a 2015 Freightliner waiting for us in Cedar Rapids. I'll be glad when we got a good truck, and we start rolling.
