Yeah, it's still a few days away but I'm excited. I'll keep a running log as I go along and keep everyone updated with as good of a blog as I can put together. Not just for my own notes but for others who might be interested in Knight as well.

The one thing I do know is that they've changed hotels. The hotel they were using had a lot of complaints and apparently they listened and started a contract with a new one.

Updates to come soon !!

Oh and a quick thanks to everyone thus far who has given me advice and tips for success. Especially Old School as he's a current Knight driver.

I look forward to reading how it goes. I am also considering knight due to the fact that you get paid while attending school...only downside being ya gotta pay it back after solo, but it would definitely help having money come in instead of bills just piling up to join this industry.

So here we go folks. I'm at the hotel, it's Sunday night and my future starts tomorrow bright and early. I have all my paperwork ready, license test passed, just have to get the physical in the morning and go pick it up.

For anyone interested in Knight, they switched to a new hotel provider this week. New students will be staying at the La quinta Inn and it's a nice clean hotel. I've read some horror stories about other hotels with other companies and I can tell you, this is a nice place.

More updates tomorrow night.

Day 1 in the books !!!!

So we started out right off the bat with a quick roll call followed by filling out our paperwork for the physical. They shuttled us over to the office for the DOT physical and then back to the terminal. Today didn't go as smooth as normal because the Doctor was late in his arrival and it threw off the timing of the rest of the day. (I have to go back with some paperwork I was told I didn't need but apparently did). Anywho, it won't delay me any and after lunch, they did the drug test along with some other paperwork on the computers and in the morning we'll be getting our employee badges and more logging in to the computer. I think we also start the Smith System training tomorrow as well but I'll find out as the day goes along.

I do have to say, the folks here at Knight are awesome. They're more than happy to talk about whatever and let you pick their brains for information. They're very informative and personable, it made day one a lot of fun.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

"Employee badges".... That's why Knight is on my list, I think they're the only company that actually hires you from day one. I could be wrong though...

I'm glad someone is posting about Squire. I am heavily considering Knight but, gotta make sure I'm in the right shape for the job so I'm waiting. Thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to following your journey.
