Congratulations Mousemaker! I remember when you first came on here, and now you're out there about to really get started - Way to Go! Keep in mind that the training time won't last forever, it will soon be over. So if it's not all sunshine and roses just bear up under it and it won't be long until your on your own. We're real excited for you!
Running with a trainer can really be a pain...and all you will be thinking about is "boy, when i get my own truck, I'll do it my way ! "...But there will be times when you will wish with all you have that your annoying trainer was sitting in that jump seat, cuz your in a mess, and you don't know what to do. Trainers are a necessary evil, whether good or bad. But you will wish that you had asked more questions, listened more, learned more, and practiced more. BTW....I met Kathy aka "Special K" 's trainer, mike. Nice guy...goes by the book, and really shows a genuine concern about making sure his student learns and experiences everything. Thats what a good trainer is all about. but, as usual, Kathy sez she'll be glad when he's done with her....Kathy will be wishin' the same thing I stated above...lol.
Hey congrats!! That's awesome!!
You're gonna do great. The anticipation is always the toughest part. Once you get out there and get rollin, you'll be lovin it.

I just hope I have a trainer that does not get annoyed with a lot of questions, because I will pick his/her brain big time. That will be my number one concern.
Tim, and experienced trainer, and a trainer who wants a rookie to learn all they can, will wlecome all the questions you have. And if you get an answer you don't understand, just tell him that you didn't get it, and could he put it in a different manner. Trainers are you last "soft spot to fall", so listen, learn, and ASK,ASK,ASK....the only stupid question is the one not asked.... GOO D LUCK !!! and if your trainer doesn't have an answer that you can understand....theres always us !! We will gladly help you out in any way we can.....

Well, I'm employed again :) I made it through orientation Thursday and am sitting by the phone waiting for a call from my yet unknown trainer. I think I'll call the lead driver manager Monday and ask if he has any leads on when one will come though town. I'm doing all my laundry to decide what to pack and what will fit in the duffle. It's that exciting/scary time of anticipation.
Driver Manager:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
