I'm going to Swift tomorrow to start orientation this week. Every company is different and every person is different, so don't pay much attention to what others have said. And let me say-that I picked Swift for family reasons and based on what I've read about them. LOL. They were on my short list with Werner and Stevens. Not a last resort by any means.
I did school on my own. The first thing they did was run the 'standard' background check. If there was something bad on it we would have ended our trip right then. Also-don't rely on the drug tests you can get at Walmart/CVS. They will show a negative result but the test used by the lab could still show positive. The ONLY way to be sure is to be clean for the required amount of time. I think the best thing you can do is get some clean time under your belt, then you just have to deal with the record-that may or may not be an issue. Tackle one issue at a time.
Just
No No NO Actual Lab done test where i pay the Big $$$$ money for True results. I wish you luck tomorrow please let me know how it goes!!!
My suggestion would be to tell your recruiter that something personal has come up and you cannot start yet.
But if you haven't driven before and are just out off school, 3 months not driving may disqualify you from any company.
There was a guy in the truck on week one at training here at Schneider that didn't drive for two months, and couldn't shift up or down. They washed him out but would let him come back after a refresher class.
Just keep that in mind.
The good news is right now you haven't had a bad prehires drug test yet. I don't want to sound critical but if you left on April 1st and smoked for 3 or 4 weeks you haven't been clean for very long. If you really want this it can wait till your in a better place. Once you fail a drug test for the dot it is almost impossible to be hired by any trucking firm. Time is the only real remedy for your situation. In the mean time study for you permit and get clean.

Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

That's what I'm thinking that in the end of May beginning of June. I should be clean by than at least a UA. I am regreating my choice of smoking weed BIG TIME. :(
You made a mistake and you admit it. We're all human and we all make mistakes. Like others have mentioned, give the right amount of time to let the THC get out of your system and look into companies that don't perform a strand test since they can go back for 6 months up to a few years. Keep your head up and keep up the good fight, you'll be out and rolling in no time.
Also once I got out of School i was thinking to pay out of my pocket a hair folical to Insure i was clean....Thoughts?
You can pay out of pocket for a drug test any time of day from a lot of clinics. If it comes back clean: Go forth with a career with a trucking company.

Yea. As suggested: Study for your permit, get it from the state (always a BIG plus for companies I've talked to; We had 2 at CRST.. Ahead by 1 week!), and study some more! :)
The High Road program on this forum is awesome, thorough, and real. The Android app is also awesome. I used both. Scored nothing under a 90% on every test given. :)
Not my best in life, but I can live with itm
