Sometimes their pins are stuck, and the handle won't lock without a second set of hands. Other times they aren't comfortable guesstimating where they should set their tandems when leaving a customer. Any number of things. I've helped guide drivers into tight parking spaces. Just be willing to lend a hand.
A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".

Like Eckoh, I'm in my first year of driving. With similar results in regards to pay (14k to his 14.7k) and it comes from being willing to take the not-so-fun loads. Show them you are a team player and they will start giving you some really nice runs.
Always be willing to help out. As an example, I always take re-powers. Even if they are short miles. You build goodwill.
I am new here. Can anyone tell me what re-powers are?

Sorry, I meant: I am new here. Can anyone tell me what re-powers are?
for the most part its when a driver screwed up and cannot finish getting the load to the final or they break down and cannot complete the load. They send another driver to get the trailer to destination on time.

Interesting. Yes, that does sound like it would be very short miles indeed.
But not always. I just picked up a 1,000 mile re-power. After that they are getting me a nice 2600 mile cross country load.
Just gotta be willing to help out.

Truck-t. As far as helping out with tandems , is that mainly moving them to get correct weight distribution? If there are other things- what else?
I appreciate your comments.

Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.DWI:
