Love the misogyny in the video title - not.
your talking about the women driver title? I got a quick laugh out of the title then thought it could be a bit offensive for some... it's an old joke, pretty much a cliche anymore to say that men drive better than women.
Actually, also just looked at the title I gave this thread, on subsequent readings, it does not seem to say what I meant it to mean. I was going for a play on the words "well oiled machine".... without that reference in mind, now I'm thinking folks are gonna read it and think I'm implying the intersection is oily and slippery, looking for an accident?
I think that!
LOL
I think that intersection is in China. :)

Def: misogyny - dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women. Every "family" show on T.V. presents the man as an imbecile who can't find his butt with both hands ... and you think a reference to "women drivers" shows dislike, contempt or prejudice ... C'mon, What ever happened to a little humor? This P.C. crap is just that, CRAP!!

'mon, What ever happened to a little humor?
I agree! People take everything, especially themselves, way too seriously. If your biggest problem in any given day is that someone said something that offended you then you have no real problems in life. Thank your lucky stars. You live a great life.
That's the trouble with free speech, can't be PC with it can't read the interweb without it.
If I offended you I am not really sorry.
AreJay - I like your title a lot more than the Youtuber that posted the video. I agree it's a good play on words, and that intersection is well oiled.
Jopa - C'mon it has to be funny if it's supposed to be humourous. This old trope is just lazy Women drivers they so bad, is so old Henny Youngman wouldn't touch it. PC crap? Yeah, that exists, but would you tell Starcar or Redgator they were bad drivers because they are female? No, I didn't think so. Imbecile males in sitcoms is a separate issue. Here it's a false equivalence. You don't counteract bad portrayals with another, I'm sure your mother told you, "two wrongs don't make a right."
Brett - offended? nope. I think Arejay posted a very interesting video. Just disappointed in the Youtuber's stance. The title tells us nothing about the video. The title's purpose is nothing more than an attempt at normalizing misogyny.
Chris - speech can be free without offending. Speech can be free and offend. The internet is not a free speech zone, as every site is someone's property. Free speech, the USA version and many others, means that the government cannot prevent your speech. It does not mean that individuals that control a site can't shut down what you say on their property. Brett's house, Brett's rules here.
In summary, I think Arejay came up with a much better title. I'm not advocating that Brett run Trucking Truth and censor this or any other thing. I'm just stating my opinion of the Youtuber's title. I love things that are not PC when they're funny, when they cut to the truth about the human condition, when they invert our prejudices and shine a light on how we feel or act. Alas, the Youtuber's title did not.
Here's another well oiled one in Bangladesh.
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

Would I TELL them, as in stating a fact that - based on their gender - they are bad drivers? Obviously not ... for one thing, I have never seen them drive and for another, they have both driven a truck much longer than I have and successfully ... would I make a joke about women drivers in their presents? If the opportunity came up and it was funny in context, more than likely YES because I tend to make fun of a lot of things - it's just my sense of humor ... sure, making a joke about women drivers is probably old and well worn and maybe too corny for Henny Youngman ... but to label it "misogyny" is over the top ... there is a vast difference between making use of an "old joke" - which is at best a failed attempt at humor - and being hateful towards someone ... make all the explanations you want about "free speech" and the internet but you are just WRONG to bring in the word misogyny into this dialogue ... no one was hating anyone and all of your intellectualizing does not make it appropriate nor accurate ... here's a sample of my humor that could well be mistaken for "hate speech" ... "...oh well, what does he know, he's Canadian ..." Now I mean nothing bad by it as it is something I often say (in context) to a very good friend of mine who is from Canada ... he gives as good as he gets and he would never take offence to me saying that because no offence was intended ... it's just something that I might think was funny at the time ... you don't know me so you may very well think I am being prejudiced or hateful ... nope, just not funny if you fail to see the humor intended ...
