I think a better idea would be to compare the two companies. Get a piece of paper. Research the companies using their website and by calling them. Write down all their information. Now ask yourself.
Which company has the home time policy that I am looking for? Which policy suits me and my situation better? Which company has a pay package closer to what I desire? Which company runs the regions that I am wanting to be in? Which company has a wider variety of different fleets I can eventually join? What type of freight are you wanting to haul? How is the equipment between the two companies? How important is having good equipment to you? Interested in bringing a passenger or a pet? Compare the passenger and pet policies. Which policy works better for you? I see you'll be attending their school. Which school works better for you? Would you want to speed through school or be a student longer to learn more before you're thrown into the woods? Contract length doesn't matter as long as its not over a year. You should stay with your first company for that first full year even if your contract is a 4 month contract. So ignore that part.
The two companies are almost identical, as are most major carriers. The thing that you need to figure out is which company works better for you. Not which company is "better"? George could say that Stevens is the best and he wouldn't want to work anywhere else. On the other hand, Joe could say that Stevens mistreated him its a terrible company. You'll never get an answer asking that question because there is no "better" company. They do the same thing. There is however, the company that works better for YOU and your situation. That's the company you want to choose. No one knows your life and what you're going through better then than. No one knows your situation. In the end, the only person that can answer your question is you.
I hope I helped.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Daniel that was a Brett answer and a good one. Nice job.
Thank you Daniel for your advice, what you said makes a lot of sense. My head is getting so twisted around because of all the comments that I have gotten about both companies, but your right in the end its what company works best for me!
Thanks again!
So I am looking for some input from past or current drivers for Stevens or Celadon, I will be attending one of their schools and then driving for them. Any advice or experience with either company is welcome, please no suggestions on other companies as these are the two I have narrowed it down to. Thank you!
As a current employee for Stevens I recommend Stevens for their training. However be cautious of which location you pick if planning on attending their driving school. Also starting pay is low but if you put in your time you can reap great rewards.
