Don't. I dreaded having to get one but after using it for a month or so, I'm amazed at how much better I feel. I missed one night with it and then realized how much more test I'm actually getting with it. Yes, I'm trying to watch what and how much I eat, and am going to start some type of manual exercise to hopefully be more healthy, but in the mean time, the CPAP is a great friend.

That's great and I hope you keep with getting healthy. I have lost 40lbs since Dec. and feel so much healthier. Just watch your portions, stay away from the fast food and work out when u can. Also, something that helped me is to find a low calorie meal that tastes good, fills u up but helps u get thru the day. If interested, I'll share a great chicken dinner with rice thats about 400-500 calories. Also, prepare your meals and that also helps because it controls your food intake..Drink lots of water because that fills u upp too. I wish u well and pray u stay healthy.

Yeah, I'll need to get a crock pot or something. But only are those truck stop meals horrible for me, it's about 10 bucks a pop. Healthier choices plus less money spent will be nice.

So Walmart sells Chicken for a 1.99 a pound. Get 3 cans of diced or petite diced tomatoes and about 3 cups of cooked rice. Dice the chicken and brown it in a deep pot, add the diced tomato and rice. Take Mrs. Dash seasoning packets like chili, taco seasoning, etc with some water (Mrs. Dash is really good because its low in sodium and alot of flavor.) Put Ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, Steak Sauce, Low sodium salt, Onion Powder, Basil, Oregeno Pepper and any other low sodium sauces you may like and just combine it. I then use and Ice Cream scoop to put it in a container. Like I said its about 400-500 calories. Just keep track of your sodium intake, drink water and find other solutions than soda. I drink Minute Maid Pink lemonade and G2 gatorade because they are low in calories. You just have to make a choice as a trucker to eat and drink healthy. Working out is hard to do with our profession but if u eat right, u can lose weight and be healthy. But with all that said.........allow yourself to spoil yourself with a favorite meal. I would say once a month when u meet your goal. I wish u good health and a great future

After doing vegetarian, vegan, low fat, weight watchers, calorie counting and never being sicker or fatter before finally losing my gall bladder in 2012, I've learned a lot. More than people will ever want to learn about what they eat. Since I learned and (finally) adjusted, I don't get sick anymore (no colds or flus either which used to be constant), sleep better, got healthier, have more energy, have lost a few inches, threw out my useless bathroom scale, fewer seasonal allergies, less aches and pains, less anxious.

I'm pretty addicted to nutritional science. Like, did you know the "fat makes you fat" science was thrown out years upon years ago?

Anyways, a good book I've loved recently is called, "It Starts With Food." I recommend it as a read for anyone wanting to get healthy. It's helped me a lot even though I've got a long way to go.

Also, for portable exercise I'm sure most have seen resistance bands. My favorite set ever that's lasted the longest are something called bodylastics. They have a cord inside that keeps them from being pulled to the breaking point, are super durable, and really easy to switch weight up or down with the attached caribiner clips.

Once I go through training, I may be chosen for the sleep study and I feel more comfortable with the idea of a CPAP if it comes to that. Thanks.

I've been using a CPAP machine for close to 5 years now. The only trouble I've had stemming from apnea has been with my DOT physical. The first one I did I wasn't aware I needed the compliance report. No big deal, got the report and got my card, easy peasy. That was for my school. The company I went with out of school had me do another physical for them. No problem, I made sure to have a current compliance report before I went to orientation. But they not only wanted the compliance report, but also a statement from my Dr saying that my apnea was under control with the use of the CPAP which I didn't have. The compliance report does show if your apnea is under control, but they want the statement too. So I recommend to anyone with apnea using a CPAP make sure you take your compliance report and get a statement from your sleep Dr prior to your physical.
