Choosing a cdl school is hard was researching sage school in Lexington as I live in sc was wondering what your experience was with this school. Not to many reviews on them any info would be great.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
I went in there today, for the general info meeting. The first thing I saw was an OLD mostly bondoed freightliner and a rust bucket trailer. On the range, there was a better looking setup, but that was not a good first impression. I know Sage feeds a lot of bigger companies, especially Schneider, but even after a very informative presentation, I am now giving the course at the Midlands Technical College a closer look. I saw one of their rigs on the road, and it was very nice.
I have heard nothing about these guys, and am starting more research on them, but this is from the web page about the MTC program:
This course is taught by Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) at MTC's Airport Campus and includes classroom and highway instruction. Graduates will receive a Class A Commercial Drivers License. Prior to registrations, students must complete an interview with a certified admissions representative. CDL Permit must be obtained before class starts. All paperwork must be in FDTC two weeks prior to class start date. $3895
That was it, nothing more, and the receptionist who answered the phone, was obviously a regular student employee reading from a pre written script. I am being sent information in a couple days, but will visit them on Monday or Tuesday, to check em out.
I know that Sage has a proven track record, and I am still keeping them in the mix, it is just that, the old school freightliner scared me a little. There is a really good chance, that it is their pre trip rig, too.
Garino, if you are out there, could you please return and enlighten us on your experience there?

I start my training June 1st at Sage school in Lexington SC. Have done lots of reading here and studying my local CDL manual. School is 150 miles from where I live so I'll be using my RV in a nearby campground. I usually have way to much personal clothing in the RV so I pulled it out and packed only what I'll be allowed to bring with my future trainer.
I have already pulled my driving record and have two tickets in the last ten years. Got a passport on the way and have my two year MED card in hand. 14 straight years recent employment as Regional traveler (Sprinter van) doing 3/4 nights a week in a hotel I'm ready to jump up to a bigger rig. Its a lot different having to jump from a regular license to the CDL A, been under the radar now everyone's watching everything and needs to know everything. There has been many times I've ran all day and half the night on the road and now its going to be logged and regulated. That's going to be the big adjustment for me.

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
