Watch for drunk drivers. Don't get hit by two of them on the same night.

The run up and down I-5 gets a bit boring after half a dozen trips both ways but the scenery is impressive. Btw, Grapevine is a nice run ...

Cut over at Bakersfield to Cal. 58 East, to Tehachapi. 58 takes you to Barstow -> I-40. Then find a convenient place to move to I-10 if you need to. Different scenery, less traffic.

Yeah but then you're dealings with a million mountains. There's a ton of steep grades just outside of Bakersfield. Then if you take 15 S to get to 10 you'll encounter traffic at the split as well as even more super steep grades. I'd rather just trip plan to drive after the traffic on those flat roads. Plus he would be adding quite a bit of extra miles to his trip and most likely going against his fuel routing, I would just take the southern route on I210.

210 was how we went, we're on our way now to Morenci Arizona to pick up a copper load and then head east for home :)
