I was going to go to Knight transportation because they pay you while you earn your cdl a trainee pay of $400 weekly and although I want to obtain my cdl and have the knowledge to do so I also have bills and a family at home that I have to keep paid while I'm training. Upon calling knight I was told they don't take on people from WV with a cdl permit for the paid training. So my question is now that I have my cdl permit where do I go for training? I am looking for paid training like knight offers and I'm more than willing to stay with the company a year to pay for my training so who out there has a program like knight where you begin earning pay your first day with no or extremely low upfront fees like knight who take people from WV? And they pay for bus ticket and hotel stay. Please help. Permit n hand

Disregard the knucklehead above me.
Unfortunately Knight is the only company that does paid training from day 1. You're going to have to look for other options planning to not earn a paycheck for a few weeks. Companies like Prime pay 700$ during training (TNT) but for the first phase you're not getting paid. The first phase generally lasts three weeks, however, they do give you a 200$ weekly advance.
Swift "transpatation" will get you a check faster but you'll earn less.
So you need to decide what's best for you. But honestly, you should think long term. This petty 400$ is nothing in the grand scheme of things so don't get hung up on it. Whichever direction you go, it's going to be very difficult for you and your family in the beginning.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
I'm in the same boat my friend, living paycheck to paycheck. But I KNOW that better lies on the horizon.Got an interview with Prime in the morning (ok, just talking with the recruiter) and gonna grill him pretty good. But I'm banking on getting through training and first year then driving the wheels off. If you find anything holler back.
May also want.to look into averitt express they offer pay at some point but I'm not sure how far into the process they start paying you. Conway is another but again not sure at what point the pay starts.
