I think the saying goes "Remain silent and have people wonder if you are stupid or speak up and remove all doubt." Or something like that. I think he removed all doubt with his sideways insult.

I do believe it is credited to Confucius and it goes,

"It is better a man keep his mouth shut and people think him a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt".

I have like that saying ever since I heard it the first time. And it was said to me in actuality. rofl-1.gif

When I was in the Navy, a Chief said that to me one day. When I realized what I had said, I kept my mouth shut. I totally deserved it. He just laughed.

Hashtag some of us so called professionals out here in the world don't make the big bucks that everyone thinks we do. My background is a lot like roadkill's. I have been a Correctional officer for the since 1999. I made my current rank of Sgt. in 2004. With all of the experiance that I have even working overtime I may get lucky and make around $32k a year.

I even have to keep up my credentials as a police offier on top of that. Now I know I am not the brightest bulb in the pack. But for the area of the country I live in it is decent money. And not everyone can or will work around convicted felons on a daily basis.

So before you go and bump your gums about people. you may want to try and walk a mile in thier shoes.

I truly hope this was not directed towards me. Because if it was, you have the wrong person. I have never said anything negative about anyone...ever! I love this site, and the guys and women on it, I feel like they are family to me.

My boyfriend is out there training right now, and he too was a Correctional Officer, my brother is a Police Officer, and his brother is with Internal Affairs....so I know all about it!

Please re-read....and if I said something to offend anyone in this post OR site....put it in quote so I can see it!

Okay guys...I think I may have inadvertently started something here...Mongo, Hashtag wasn't the poster who made the disparaging remarks...that guy was called Tim, I think...Freespirit, aka Hashtag was asking about something Guyjax posted and I was clarifying it for her..that guy that made the stupid comment hasn't come back(thankfully) and said anything else...so let's continue to be good to each other and put this down to a simple misunderstanding...

Hey, it's all good. I knew he misread something. I'm not mad at all. I probably could've used less words, but sometimes the German-Irish blood can boil a little too fast, and then my mouth overrides my brain! shocked.png

However, for the record, I have walked in the shoes of a waitress for 25 years earning $2.13 per hour plus tips and if I did not receive a 15% tip (min) , it cost me for them to be there. Uncle Sam has to get his share, so a waitress is taxed on their food sales. Just like trucking, you can have a good week, and you can have a wtf.gif week.

I may not be behind the wheel, but I have a man that is. While he is in training, I'm here at home reading and learning as much as I can so I can better understand what's going on out there. Whatever he is going through, I feel it. I am witnessing the good, the bad, and the ugly of his training. If it wasn't for this site and all of you awesome people, I'm really not sure I could help him get through it. Also, once he has completed his training I'm jumping in the truck with him so in reality I need to know what in the hell IS going on....but anyway...enough of the sentimental stuff....

Someone hand me a tissue now.................rofl-3.gif

I will admit that I may have misread who posted what. And for that I apologize to you Hashtag. But for the poster that does think that people that are into or getting into trucking are nothing but simpletons, My words stand as I said them. Must be all of the Eastern block blood that gets me heated over stuff.

I know over the corse of the last 46 years I have met people that never finished school and can do anything they set thier minds too. I have also come across the college educated idiot that isn't smart enough not to stick a fork in a power outlet unless they read it in a book.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Well said, Mongo....and you will find literally ALL KINDS, Education levels, genius to simpleton...and any other type of human, in trucking.... But irregardless of what you did at your last job, if you carry yourself as a professional truck driver, you will find you usually are treated like a professional.....
