Well I been more of a reader on here due to cause I am not in the industry.
My brother has a trucking company and we farm as well so I have been around
semis quite often just never got my cdl. 1 Factor is didn't need it to drive farms
truck.
I am currently now a fiber optic splicer for local telephone company. It has its
days but fairly decent job. Its always been my dream to haul with my brother and
help with family business. I even bought a semi with my brother when I was in
highschool at the truck auction. We still have it to this day on the road.
I am now 25 where insurance and maturity and everything is getting better. I decided that its time
to get my cdl. So I went and took my General Knowledge/air brakes/ combination tests
and passed. Boy was I excited to pass that. I now studying my pre-trip and driving tests. That
pre-trip is full of information but I am sure I will get it. Might take a couple trys but I am determined.
One good thing is I got semis to practice on where some may not.
After I get my cdl I have to weigh a lot of options if I am going to make trucking full time or more of a
hobby. It comes down to insurance due to being self-employed kind of with my brother. Time
will tell. Thanks for letting me to type this out and spill my guts.. Feel better about it all.
