Hehe, Pat. I usually like to check the no-title ones because they're mysterious...Curiosity might kill this cat!
Bill, you can usually start back up within the day. Takes a minute. I had two halts at first because I didn't realize that I could scroll up to refresh my memory and review the material. I was guessing. Keep on going! It's the best training program :)
Bill, the way that program works is if you start missing too many questions it will recognize where you are weak and it will provide you review questions along the lines of where you are missing the correct answers. You can begin working on it right away - it just won't advance you to any further new material until you start to show some proficiency in the area where you are weak. Once you begin to get the proper answers then it will unlock itself and begin to feed you some new material.
It's frustrating, we realize, but it is a very effective tool. If it kept you going when you were not doing so well you would be re-enforcing bad information in your memory which will not help you learn the material.
Just work on what it will let you do and as you begin to "get it" you will be allowed to proceed.
This is why we tell people to never guess at the answers, because once it recognizes that you are not getting it you are going to be set down for a spanking!
While you are working through the material you will find that each question will show you where to find the answer. You should click on that indicated area and look up the answer before you answer the question. You will begin to grasp the answers that way by re-enforcing the correct information each time you answer. You will be getting review questions randomly thrown in there all the time as you go along just to make sure you are retaining what you've learned.
Also be very careful when reading the questions - sometimes they are worded trickily. They will be this way at the state exam also. If it asks what is not the proper way to do something, or if it has the word "not" in the question, be very wary, it is designed to trip you up.
Keep at it. You will be working through that thing for at least a couple of weeks if you do it right, but you will benefit greatly from the exercise.
Right on Old School. I've been working through it for about 2 weeks as time permits and just finished up the Air Brakes section. The repetition and re-enforcement is an excellent approach and the little pop up boxes with more info are great. I will never, ever forget that the low air pressure warning device must alert you BEFORE it hits 60 psi lol. Also watch out for the word 'except' at the end of the questions. If you start spacing out, it's an easy one to miss.
