Thanks Starcar, it's a great idea! Cooking is a hobby of mine, and I will get right over there and check it out, because I've already been working on ideas of how to do some "home cooking" in my travels, or at least some ways of preparing food ahead of time that can be warmed up in the truck. Oh, and we're glad to have you back - I was afraid the apocalypse had happened and you were up the mountain waiting on TSB to get home and meet you up there.
Thanks star, I've been thinking of getting a little butane cooker to make some food on my travels.. this will be helpful, id give it to the wife, but she can't cook anything except pasta... (true story)
Are there any restrictions on cooking tools that we can keep and use in the truck?
I was thinking of the little camp stoves previously mentioned, or perhaps a rice cooker / steamer. I'd love a toaster oven too, but I'd imagine that would require quite a powerful inverter.
First of all... DAVID.....pasta is not good for you....UNLESS thats all your wife cooks..lol. But you can really cook alot of stuff in the Burton Cooker. The best part is, it plugs into a cig lighter, and the lid also locks, so no splills. Its the easiest to use. And since most companies are kinda iffy about hooking up inverters, you may have to get creative with other appliances that they sell in the truck stops. Virtually everything that you can cook at home, you can cook in your truck. You just have to be creative. When TSB and I ran team, I used to really get into cooking multiple layer meals...it was really fun. I even made french toast in the Burton Cooker !!! Mashed taters and gravy was another thing. It took time, but was fun.

I love having Starcar on the site!!!!
Starcar, my wife calls me that, too!
OK, I just went to the facebook site for my old Trucker's Wives site. I'm hoping I'll get alot of the ladies over here helping me make the Wives and Family Forum interesting. Some of them are even as narly as I am !!!
Edit would be nice. Star car what is the name of the FB group I will join?
Pebbles, just do a search for Truckers Wives. It used to have a forum like here, but they decided FB was the way to go. Needless to say, if you wanna follow a thread, its impossible in FB. But the majority of the ladies on it are great...

Well in the last 6 months, she has learned from me how to cook other meals for the kids, But when I first met her 5 yrs ago, all she could make was pasta.. Tasty pasta, but still..
Looking forward to seeing some good recipes.

I've started a topic on the TW for recipes on the road. I'm sure theres some single drivers on here, who would really benefit from these. And some drivers that would like to have their wives try some of these. So feel free to follow the thread, and learn how to cook on the road, and eat healthier.
