Sounds like things are moving along just fine!
You're going to have up and down days. Some days you're not going to be able to do anything right, others you can't do anything wrong. Expect it, and don't let it affect you. Even after 15 years of driving I would have days where I couldn't back that thing to save my life. Other days I could have put it anywhere you wanted it in a snap. So when you have bad days, ignore it. The next day you'll be awesome.
I hear you there Brett, today was a good day. Got plenty of driving time and always learn a lot watching other students from the cab as well. Getting on the freeway tomorrow!
Getting on the freeway tomorrow!
Nice! That'll be fun!
Let us know how that goes. I went to truck driving school back in '93 and to this day I remember almost every detail about my first time on the highway like it was yesterday!

Funny you say that..I can still remember my very first patrol as a rookie cop like it was yesterday, too..and it was over 23 years ago...funny what you remember, eh??

Yeah, when you experience something you consider to be really intense, it sticks with you in a big way.
I mean, think about how unbelievably effective our High Road CDL Training Program would be if I could get Hulk Hogan to stand next to people while they're taking the quizzes and scream the correct answers in their face! And if you get one wrong, Ray Lewis would blitz into the room and sack you like the Cleveland Browns quarterback!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
That was a bad example Brett. Anyone could sack the Cleveland Browns qb.
Hahaaaa.... imagine if it was like this..

Exactly!
That gives me a great idea for a new way to let people know they've been halted.
Hahaha Terry Tate! That's some good stuff right there. The freeway driving was a great experience, we were up and down the 60 east/west in Fontana, CA. Pretty good amount of traffic and a lot of other big rigs on the freeway to gain experience driving with. I was sticking to 55mph, but it actually felt like the truck was traveling much faster to me. Nothing at all like what I was expecting it to be like. I didn't feel like I was just creeping along, everything was intense but calming at the same time if that makes sense

Things are going pretty well, I'm picking up the shifting pretty quickly. We focused more on downshifting today, I need to work on braking quicker in order to get into 3rd gear for the right hand turns on time. Doing pretty well though. Backing has been up and down, yesterday I did the straight line backing no problem first time through. Today was a different story, I got in my head to much n got all nervous. Parallel parking wasn't all that bad, did pretty well there. Offset backing gave me a little trouble because I lost track of the cones setup for the lane I was to enter. All in all I'm doing pretty well. Reading up on the post on here about the different trainer personalities has been a great help coming into this school. Love all the different types of trainers so far, once you get a feel for their personality it's all fun learning.
