I never write on here but instead of criticizing the drivers for Walmart and there whining, we should join them on that same demand with all the other companies. WE SHOULD ALL GET PAID FOR GUARDING THEIR FREIGHT AND MORE!!!
That's a start... we have more power if we demand together.
Hahhaha. I love these type of comments. Truckers never join together for anything because all want to be in control and all want different things. And unionization is a cluster in itself with all sorts of corruption and equalization of bums and hard workers.
"Guard their freight".... So does that mean if the freight is stolen while the driver is sleeping....which has happened. That i driver should pay the $50k freight bill??? This just happened to a driver while he was sleeping.

"WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE! FIGHT THE POWER!"
Every five years this comes around. The last time was about 8 months ago, so your either late, or very early.
OMG. Smells like socialism to me.
You did say 5 years, must be a plan.

Remember the "Black Smoke Matters" mob? That was the latest incarnation. What was accomplished with that one?
"We have more power if we stick together." Really? This premise could be applied to any sector. What if all the makers of coffee got together and decided to double prices? What if all the suppliers of deodorants decided to raise prices? Truck drivers aren't the only vital sector of the economy.

Does that mean if you wake up to someone breaking the lock on your trailer and unloading your cargo that you should just roll over and go back to sleep?

Hahaha, if you drive a truck you understand from the very beginning that your CPM and various other pays such as breakdown, detention etc are all part of the package and set at a rate to make the waiting in traffic, 10 hour breaks, fueling, DOT required 30s, 34 hour resets and the lot part of that compensation package. You know up front that it is part of the job and exactly how your compensation package works. This crap is no different than the Uber, Lyft and various ridesharing workers lawsuit. Both are equally ridiculous and brought on by the crybaby terminal rat types. Anyone not happy with the way it is done needs to shut their mouths and move on to a new job. Maybe diaper tester.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

You can if you want to. Or you can call the police, oh wait, I bet you want to de-fund the police right? Are you willing to put your life on the line to defend the freight in the trailer? I'm not. I would call the police and maybe start the truck and drive off if I felt threatened in any way. I'm not guarding squat, the freight can be replaced, I cannot. Guard is not in my job description nor is it an assigned duty for my job. There is no ELD log section to log on to guard status.

I'd still buy the coffee because I'm an addict and I'd stop buying deodorant so it wouldn't affect my bottom line. My wife can live with me being funky, but she won't put up with me being cranky because no coffee.

Also in regards to being paid for all their time let's say minimum wage is $9 an hour. Even if you receive time and a half after 40 hours in your 70 hour work week you'd make $765 or just shy of $40k a year. If an experienced driver isnt able to easily make that much GROSS income (before taxes) they're clearly doing something wrong or working for far below market rate CPM.
CPM:
Cents Per Mile
