Do you have any experience? If so, how much?
I drove fore 6 years over the road before i got in the mill now its shut down and got to get back in the truck its been 7 years since i drove
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Sorry for the late reply. I'm ageing quickly and as a result I'm starting to forget things I shouldn't.
Being that it's been 7 years since you last drive you'll probably have to start from the bottom. In other words, you're pretty much coming in just like someone who has never driven a truck before- except you have a huge advantage because you used to drive.
It's just been too long for them to offer you a refresher course so I don't see that happening.
Speak to your recruiter and they will tell you exactly what's going on. But my guess is that you're going to have to go through both the PSD/TNT phases.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

I went in with class a but no driving in eight years. You have to go thru psd and tnt as if you've never drove. But it's not bad. Find a trainer who has a good rep for rolling and the thirty thousand miles won't take that long. Plus you'll make above the tnt guarantee with someone who wants to run.

Yes you will have to do the PSD/TNT but you don't tested like a PSD you get evaluelated it will take about 3 weeks to do the psd part but with you it could be sooner.. Yes you can make more than the guarantee. Hope you get a trainer that likes to run and a fleet manager who can run you .. I know after my PSD student pasted my fleet manager ran us we left prime friday afternoon and I dropped him off thursday morning in Indiana for home time and he already had 4800 miles in that short time

So what's changed with prime since last year? I came to prime last July with a cdl and no recent tractor trailer experience in 14 years and only did tnt. I had to take a 40hr refresher from an approved school and was reimbursed 75% of the cost of that school over the first 3 months I was at prime. Basically I was reimbursed before I finished tnt. I had to have 40k miles. I was never offered to go thru psd at all.
