If the charges were dropped you were not convicted of them you were only accused of them, so technically you would not need to list those. The misdemeanor charge you would want to list though as you were convicted of that one. You could be open about the dropped charges but since they do not appear on your record as convictions it will not be found on a background check I do not see the reason to list them.
Thank you for the reply. The charges do not show up on a regular background check. However, they do show up on the check done by HireRight but are listed with a disposition of nolle prosse. I am in the process of having the charges expunged, but this will take a few months to complete. For now, I will just explain there are charges associated with the misdemeanor that were dismissed.
That would be the best way to do it then, if nothing else it will show you are open and honest about stuff.

I got into some trouble in South Carolina in 2010 and was charged with four felonies. Three of them were nolle prossed and the final one was reduced to a misdemeanor by the state(fine with no jail time or probation). Since the application asks for convictions only, I am confused about disclosing the dismissed charges. The application asks for felony and misdemeanor convictions separately, and I know I have to be up front and honest about my background. So do I list the dismissed charges as a conviction with the misdemeanor? I just want to make sure the application is correctly done before submitting it.
