Matthew, go online now and apply at Roelhl, August is not that far away. I applied in mid May. After you apply, immediately call them and speak to a recruiter. I'm working with Dylan, he's a good guy. After my initial call it took him about three weeks to get back to me. I kept calling during that time and sending an email. They are pretty busy over there, since they changed the driver pay. When I applied I did not have my permit yet.
While you waiting here's a list of things to do:
1 - Keep doing TT High Road Program - you will pass the permit test if you study this.
2 - Get a passport. I went to the post office. It took about three weeks to get it in the mail. Passport Application

3 - Apply for Hazmat and TWIC. Copy and paste the link, I couldn't get the link to work. TSA - Hazmat Endorsement Threat Assessment Program http://www.tsa.gov/stakeholders/hazmat-endorsement-threat-assessment-program While your getting fingerprinted for Hazmat you might as well get fingerprinted for TWIC also. Since you would already be there. It will cost an extra $128.00. It takes a few weeks to get these back in the mail.
4 - Take your permit test (all endorsements). I failed passenger so I opted out of school bus too.

My recruiter scheduled the physical and informed me the only permit test I needed to take was general knowledge, air brakes and combination. Since I already had a class b the only permit test I had to take was the combination. I asked if I needed a passport she said just a birth certificate was needed.

The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Ken, keep calling them. You should always call your prospective employer after applying for a job. That email might have been a automated response. Keep calling until you speak to someone. You'll be able to get your questions answered and establish a working relationship with a recruiter and the company. Best of luck!

Tim, that list is just one I made for myself on things I needed to do. I did a lot of research on truck driving this past winter. I got a lot of info from Trucking Truth website, then dug deeper into company and government sites. The reason I suggested to get all endorsements was to not limit yourself on the type of freight you hall. Get them all, your already at the testing sight for your permit, spend the extra dollars now to open up more options in the future. The passport and TWIC is another thing to add to your list of qualifications. It only helps to have those things beforehand. That way you can just focus on becoming a safe and successful driver. You need a passport to get into Canada. Mexico too.
My list was all the things I did. I had the time and finance's to get things done, so I took care of it. My free time will be pretty scarce when I start training and working full-time again. I always like to have a backup plan in case things don't work out with my first choice.

My concern is that I have a few possible medical issues (The main one being the all-dreaded Sleep Apnea) that I want to make sure gets taken care of before hand. I don't want to waste the companies time going up there only to be sent home for medical reasons.
A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.
In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.
It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.

The clinic Roehl sent me too paid for the physical. I only received a three month medical card because I too need to have a sleep study done due to my neck size and weight. Roehl is doing the sleep study at the training when I go at the marshfield location. I guess it's the only place they can do the sleep study at. Have you actually talked to a recruiter? Mine is very nice and she has gotten back to me very quickly every time I have had a question. She called me within hours of completely my app online.
