Would love to hear about some of the creative and innovative ways you guys store your belongings in the truck. Given the limited space in the sleepers, I'm sure some of you have come up with some brilliant ideas and how to do more with less. Attach pics as well if you like.

Thanks 🚚

To kind of piggy back off of this one a bit get yourself some foldable laundry bags (couple bucks at Dollar General for a long one), this will make your laundry easier to manage and once put away the basket can fold up nearly flat. Those bins in the light weight post are perfect storage solutions for tight areas.

You don't really need as much crap as you think you do. Keep it light and simple.

A lot of people use the top bunk for storage. Just get a few straps and some plastic containers and strap em down. I never had more then I needed. Clothes, laundry stuff and cooking items. Plus laptop for some entertainment

Anybody ever put a loadlock across the bunk to use as a closet bar? They sell small versions designed for cars.

Not to bring up an older post but I thought I'd add a few things here. In the tall cabinet with the bar for hanging clothes you can stack dish drying racks and secure them with zip ties easy cheap shelves for food then put clothes in bins on the bunk. I was taught it's better to have plenty of space for things and put clothes in a duffle if you had to especially when it comes to money saving items lol.

Also of you have a top bunk you can strap your microwave to the underside of it with 2 straps and it will stay secure.

On prime inc. Lightweight trucked I saw someone get a small wire shelving unit and strap it across the end of the bunk so the driver could lay and not lose bunk space vut above his feet were 2 shelves.

Space bags... the kind you squeese air out of. they're cheap and can double the amount of clothes you bring or halve the space the clothes you "need" take up. When I was in AmeriCorps this year that's what I did. We were limited to our large GSA issued red bag (i don't know how to describe the dimensions) and depending on your team leader 1 personal (carry on size) suitcase. also pillow and a blanket and your boots were not counted cause you could pretty much stuff that stuff into the random gaps of space in our vans... and under the seats. being that the case when you have to pack your full uniform (3 t shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 pairs of cargo pants, 2 pairs of shorts, ameri tux which was a white polo plus black cargo pants, hoody and PPE gear) PLUS your personal off the clock clothing as well as underwear / under shirts you're going to have to get creative with packing. storage bags were a life saver, had 3 of them and could fit my entire wardrobe in them... I had too many shirts because every project we went on I was given 2-3 from sponsors or other volunteer activities, start the year with 4 personal shirts plus unfiorm, end the year with 20 personal shirts and uniform if you want to keep it.

here's a picture of the red bag i'm talking about... this one not quite as stuffed as mine looked but i also put my toiletries and stuff and as the type who changes their socks and underwear on a daily basis with laundry being at best once a week (sometimes only as often as 1x bi weekly I had a lot of those so other pockets were stuffed.

Here's a picture of what one of our vans fully packed looks like... actually i think we can put a little more in this one :P 21b2jyc.jpg

finally since i got into it, here's a slideshow video of the various bits of work my unit in my first year did (you had 3 units which were then further broken up into 4-5 smaller teams of about 9-12 people). https://www.dropbox.com/sc/lb6x5uegblqly9p/AAAXlMCBlUz17ez7qQkhNEVWa enjoy :D
