ROTFL Dude you can't be serious. Everyone who comes this forum are seeking advice about becoming a truck driver and you come asking for money. LMFAO. These guys are giving you advice how to become one and you throw it back in their face. Seriously. I know this is not a forum that judges people on their comments but dude this by far has got to be the most silliest thing I have ever heard in my 30 years of being on this earth. Every trucker here have paid their dues and the ones coming into trucking also have to pay their dues. And plus I think these guys girlfriends, wives, children, or mistresses LOL will appreciate you begging them for money. LMFAO. Get serious dude. If you want this you going to have to earn just like everyone else.

like I said why are you wasting your time even commenting I'm going to get this money regardless of you or anybody else if you're not going to donate shut your trap I can ask for anything in this world that I want I'm not bout to get stuck in A one year contract so I'm going to do what I have to do I'm not selling my soul for A one year contract

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Sir, there's a million GoFundMe pages set up for people who actually need the money for serious complications. If I would have extra money to give away I would much rather donate it to a poor lady who needs it for her medicine. No one is going to help you when they would rather donate money that could be spent on better things in life and to help those in unfortunate circumstances.

Secondly, why is this 1 year contract such a big deal? Hardly anyone has good job security and lots of folks would wish they were under contract because that would at least give them the breathing room and assurance that they'll continue getting a paycheck. The contract is a total win/win. You get a job free of charge and you get to build your work history and gain experience, and the company gets back what they invested in your training.

Also, if you're going to ask for money then at least have the decency to show some respect and behave like an adult. No one is going to donate when the recipient comes off as a butt.

I guess you're other option is to get a job and save the money to pay for trucking school or take a car down to one of those places that does title loans. You could give plasma for a while and raise some money, or maybe hold a sign on a street corner claiming your homeless (although I'd avoid wearing a brand new pair of Jordan's while you stand there like a guy I saw a few weeks back)

Louie, I am going to make a prediction right now: you are not going to make it as a truck driver. I may be wrong of course, but based on what little I have seen from you thus far, I would be highly surprised.

If you have the audacity to come in here with this incredible air of self-entitlement and "gimme gimme" attitude, to lash back so viciously at those who point out the errors in your ways, and to continue on in your beliefs despite what every wise and experienced driver on this forum is trying to tell you, I have to believe that these same behavior traits are going to carry over into your career. And these traits, sir, are going to get your butt canned quicker than you can say, "go fund me" — that's assuming you're even allowed through the door in the first place.

How are you going to deal with your dispatcher? With DOT officers? With customers? With other drivers? Are you going to show respect, understanding, patience, civility, professionalism? Again, based on your posts to this point: I think not.

My suggestion, take it or leave it, is to humble yourself, accept criticism and advice, realize that there are millions of other drivers who have entered this industry and gone through the hoops to become successful before you, and that you can't rely on handouts to get where you want to be. Roll up your sleeves, take your punches, and do what needs to be done.

By the way, if you really want people to donate to your GoFundMe page, at least put up the correct link...

DOT:

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

LOL. I'm not really commenting dude, I'm really giving you a dose of reality. Like Daniel B. said I'd would rather donate my hard earned money to someone I know really needs it like a homeless family, or a family who can't cover their sick child's medical bills. To me you seem like the type of person who has never worked for anything in their life, but I could be wrong. LOL. I can guarantee you no one from this site will donate to your cause if that's what you want to call it. Like I said before if you really want this you have to earn it. It's nothing wrong with being under a contract for a year, so as long as your doing what your suppose to do, you will be okay. And I wouldn't listen to outside forces (LOL), just because it didn't work out for them for whatever reason, that doesn't mean it won't work out for you.

Why didn't I think of that? If style wants to go to my go fund me pace to get me out of my one year contract I'd appreciate it. Or I guess there is that whole personal responsibility thing....

I'm not going to lie...I totally did a GoFundMe because I needed help with tuition (before I understood how tuition reimbursement benefits worked) and work clothes and stuff (right before school started I blew out my last pair of jeans - and when I say last, I don't mean I have a second closet and this was my last pair of favorite jeans...it was my last pair of jeans). The difference is (and I think that's why people are getting so upset) that I asked my friends and family on Facebook. I asked them to like or share my post so if someone felt extra generous, maybe they would help me out too. But I certainly didn't get mouthy with them if they were not so inclined. Asking for help (for me anyways) is absolutely humiliating but I wasn't sure what else to do. I listened to some advice and then decided to get a 0% interest credit card which the bank approved for the exact amount of school - I didn't qualify for WIA) and dropped my GoFundMe goal down to what people have already donated (which was the perfect amount - was able to buy work boots, a few pairs of jeans and gloves).

Louie, I think the reason you're getting so much crap for posting something like this here is because everyone on this site has had to figure out a way on their own. Now, do I think some of the drivers on here asked friends and family for help? Sure. But that's the line. You haven't been on TT long enough to develop that sort of relationship with anyone here and unfortunately, first impressions only happen once. I really do hope that you figure a way to get into school. I have met with recruiters that offer tuition reimbursement with no contract (Werner, May, and Schneider). You may not like the companies, but like my instructor said, "If they're willing to hire you out of school, train you, and pay you, what the hell more do you want as newbies?" If you can't come up with the money up front, a lot of schools I looked at have their own funding. It's an exorbitant amount of interest, but sometimes you just have to bite the damn bullet.

I just applied for Fafsa mailed in my forms now im waiting for an email or phone call on if im approved or not which worse case i'll have to do company sponsored or struggle a bit paying on my own. fortunately my community tech school here in atlanta only charges about 16-1700 for the course and i have already pretty much called or email companies asking if they approved of this tech school and all of them do so far. so yeah try what these guys are saying apply for Fafsa
